Clinically Validated Nutrients Deliver
Mobility, Quality of Life and Heart Health Support
Vitamin D (as cholecalciferol): 25 mcg
Vitamin D plays a key role in bone health, as well as many other important roles in the body.
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluated the effect of different doses of vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) in older adults. The highest administered dose (20 mcg vitamin D) resulted in a lower incidence rate of falling compared to the other groups.
Magnesium (as oxide, ascorbate): 250 mg
Magnesium is an abundant essential mineral found naturally in the body and many foods and is often added to food products and dietary supplements. It is involved in over 300 different reactions in the body.
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluated the effect of magnesium in overweight women. Magnesium showed a significant improvement in a test that assesses a person’s mobility. Another randomized, cross-over trial evaluated the effect of magnesium in adults with low mood. Magnesium showed a significant improvement compared to placebo after six weeks in mood and anxiousness.
Folate (as [6S]-5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid, glucosamine salt) (Quatrefolic®): 170 mcg
Folate is the generic name for a type of B vitamin (B9). It’s found naturally in foods as folate, whereas folic acid is the common source used in dietary supplements and fortified foods. When folic acid is consumed it needs to be reduced and converted within the cell to tetrahydrofolate in order to become metabolically active and so that it can be stored in the body. Quatrefolic provides the biologically active form of folate (5-MTHF, 5-methyltetrahydrofolate).
A randomized, placebo-controlled intervention evaluated the effect of 5-MTHF or folic acid in healthy adults. 5-MTHF was more effective than was folic acid in supporting healthy homocysteine levels. Elevated homocysteine levels are known to be a risk factor for poor heart health.
